Depilex Smileagain Foundation is committed to provide the acid survivors not only with medical care and assistance but also an adequate chance to become productive, self-reliant members of the society that has ostracized them. Our vision extends beyond the immediate.
Year 2020 has been an exceptional year throughout the world because of the spread of COVID-19. The new normal required social distancing and mostly working from home. DSF fully adopted the new norm and rules. Whilst practicing social distancing, and the DSF team mostly working from home in an effort to curb the rapid spread of COVID-19, DSF has all along tried to keep its activities going for the welfare of the acid burnt victims in particular and focus on issues relating to violence against women in general. While following proper SOPs, medical treatment of the burnt victims continued along with the participation in several online webinar sessions to raise awareness about this heinous crime of acid throwing and to sensitize communities at large. DSF communicated success stories and the challenges faced, through social media, Letters, TV channels, educational institutions and all the suitable public and private forums. And most importantly burnt victims were educated about the important precautionary measure that everyone must take during COVID-19 pandemic. Psychosocial Support and training sessions continued at a regular pace with limited number of participants with seating arrangements maintaining safe distances. Job placement and business setup activities continued. As an additional economic support DSF collected and provided rashan bags to the burnt victims and their families.
